Jason Segel says ‘The Other F Word’ for Fox

Drew Pearce, Segel team on comedy based on doc

In a competitive situation, Twentieth Century Fox has acquired a pitch from “Iron Man 3” scribe Drew Pearce and Jason Segel based on the documentary “The Other F Word” that Segel is attached to topline.

Duo will write the script together and exec produce.

The Other F Word” explores the world of aging punk rock musicians as they transition into fatherhood and try to maintain the contrast between their anti-authoritarian lifestyle with the responsibilities of being a dad.

Andrea Blaugrund Nevins wrote and directed the doc, and produced it with Cristan Reilly.

Segel recently wrote and exec produced Disney’s “The Muppets” and Universal’s comedy “The Five Year Engagement,” and he also penned “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” The “How I Met Your Mother Star” will next be seen in Judd Apatow’s “This Is 40” and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s directorial debut “The End of the World.”

Pearce created the hit Brit series “No Heroics,” which led to a job writing “Runaways” for Marvel. He was then hired to write “Iron Man 3” and and WB’s “Sherlock Holmes 3,” and more recently, he was tapped to pen the script for “Godzilla.”

WME reps Segel and Pearce, who is also repped by PBJ Management. Segel is also repped by Abrams Entertainment and attorney Warren Dern.
