Jared Abrahamson sparks to ‘Blowtorch’

'Wimpy Kid' thesp joins Brooklyn-based gangster tale

Jared Abrahamson (“Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days”) will join Lois Robbins, Armand Assante, William Baldwin, Kathy Najimy, Paul Ben-Victor, Victoria Cartagena and Jack Falahee in the indie movie “Blowtorch,” which is being produced by Me3 Prods.

Kevin Breslin is directing from a script he co-wrote with Rosemary Breslin. Joseph Gervase and Adrienne Stern are producing the drama, which starts lensing this week in Brooklyn in advance of a November 2013 release.

Robbins stars as a recently widowed mother whose oldest son (Abrahamson) is brutally murdered. The detective (Baldwin) assigned to the case doesn’t pay it much attention, prompting her to stalk a group of Brooklyn gangsters to uncover the truth.

Abrahamson will play the young victim who gets caught in a life of crime. Najimy will play Robbins’ neighborhood friend and confidante. Assante will co-star as a drug-dealing kingpin.

Abrahamson, repped by Lauren Levitt & Associates and Thruline Entertainment, co-starred alongside Kirstie Alley and Rhea Perlman in ABC’s comedy pilot “The Manzanis” last year after making his acting debut in the Hallmark Channel feature “Finding a Family.” He had a supporting role in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.”
