James Woods is in early talks to join the cast of Sony’s “White House Down” starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx.
Roland Emmerich will helm from a script by “The Amazing Spiderman” scribe James Vanderbilt.
In the pic, Tatum plays a Secret Service agent who leaps into action to defend the president when a paramilitary group takes over the White House and holds everyone inside hostage. If a deal were to close, Woods would play the head of the presidential detail.
Vanderbilt and partners Bradley Fischer and Laeta Kalogridis will produce for Mythology Entertainment, while Emmerich, Larry Franco and Harald Kloser will also produce. Reid Carolin, Tatum’s producing partner at their Iron Horse Entertainment banner, will serve as an exec producer.
Production is set to start in August.
The Gersh-repped Woods was most recently seen in the Screen Gems pic “Straw Dogs.”
