Inception buys two horror projects

Pics set for lensing in Northern Ireland

Inception Media Group has acquired the rights to “Deadlocked” and “Vampires vs. Leprechauns” from Causeway Pictures with both horror films slated to start production by the end of the year.

Inception made the announcement Monday at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival and said it was the first time it has pre-bought a film prior to the start of production. Inception has secured all North American rights to the films, including theatrical, digital, television and home video.

Both pics were written by Belfast-based writer Spencer Wright (“Red Mist”). All principal photography will be taking place in Northern Ireland.

Horror comedy “Vampires vs. Leprechauns” will be directed by Allan Gidea and set in the small Irish village of Comhla Breac, which over the space of one night is besieged by a group of vampires seeking to open a gateway to hell.

“Deadlocked” will be directed The Tohill Brothers and is set in a fictional Belfast office block during a violent virus breakout caused by an ash cloud. When volcanic ash turns the residents of Belfast into frenzied zombie-like psychopaths, a group of bankers find themselves trapped in their corporate ivory tower as the epidemic rages.
