Imax ups Welton to prexy

Exec to run company's worldwide theatrical sales, operations

Mega-screen exhib Imax has tapped Mark Welton as prexy of Imax theaters for which he’ll run the company’s worldwide theatrical sales and operations.

Welton most recently served as Imax’s exec VP of corporate and digital development and theater operations.

In his new role, Welton will develop and execute strategies to further the exhib’s growth and extend its brand in the entertainment-technology space. He’ll head up the company’s Canadian headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario.

“Mark has a proven track record of achievement within Imax,” said CEO Richard Gelfond, to whom Welton will report.
