IFC Films nabs ‘Wedding’

Film unit acquires rights to Tribeca pic

IFC Films has acquired all U.S. rights to director Donald Rice’s romantic comedy “Cheerful Weather for the Wedding,” which had its world premiere in April at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Teun Hilte produced for Yellow Knife. Script was penned by Rice and Mary Henely-Magill and based on Julia Strachey’s 1932 novel of the same name.

The film stars Elizabeth McGovern, Felicity Jones, Luke Treadaway, Mackenzie Crook, Zoe Tapper, and Ellie Kendrick

In the film, Jones portrays a bride hiding in her bedroom on her bitterly cold wedding morning, dreaming of the romantic summer she spent with Treadaway’s character.

The deal Arianna Bocco for Sundance Selects/IFC Films with UTA and Goldcrest Films International on behalf of the filmmakers.
