GoDigital, Visit partner to distrib Ben Lee doc

Pic to preem on VOD platforms Nov. 6

VOD distrib GoDigital is partnering with Visit Films to release Ben Lee docu “Ben Lee: Catch My Disease” November 6 on cable and digital platforms, which will mark the pic’s U.S. premiere.

Ten-years-in-the-making doc follows Lee, the Australian singer-songwriter who’s been a star since early adolescence. Pic includes interviews with ex-girlfriend Claire Danes and friends Jason Schwartzman, Michelle Williams, Zooey Deschanel and Winona Ryder.

“It’s exciting for this film to have a US release,” Lee said. “I find the mere fact of its existence mortifying in all the appropriate ways. It’s intimate, honest, sometimes embarrassing and quite transparent.”

Baxter Brothers Film Releasing is teaming with Strand Releasing for the DVD release.

GoDigital, which has an output arrangement with Lionsgate and pacts with digital distribs including iTunes, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Playstation and Dish, made a distribution pact with Adopt Films and acquired Might Entertainment in early 2012, secured on-demand rights to the 1,000-title Spanish-language film library of Latin Anywhere in February and has since scooped up a good handful of individual titles.
