Indie distributor The Global Media Group has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Brett Rosenberg’s Hollywood-themed documentary “AKA Private” and will shop foreign rights at AFM this week.
Turning the lens on the merciless Hollywood machine, “AKA Private” looks at the lives of both aspiring and established actors and examines the tragic, less glamorous side of their lives.
Rosenberg directed and produced the documentary, which was co-produced by Gary Private, a former Atlantic Records artist and ex-teen pop star who takes center stage in the pic.
Film features the perspectives of numerous other actors as well as the insight of experts who examine fame as an addiction. Interviewees include media personalities that grabbed success while courting failure, such as Ron Jeremy (“The Boondock Saints”), Frank Stallone (“Rocky”), Tony Denison (“The Closer”), Pamela Des Barres, boxer Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini and Anthony Quinn’s son Francesco Quinn.
A division of Taylor & Dodge, The Global Media Group was founded in 2008 by Tyler W. Konney. It facilitates the distribution of high-quality films across all markets in all media worldwide. It also oversees the firm’s equity investments in films and entertainment media.
