U’s Halloween Horror Nights kicked off the spooky season Friday with its presentation of the Eyegore Awards at Universal Theme Park.
Hosted by “Face Off’s” McKenzie Westmore, the event honored, among others, Guillermo del Toro.
Legendary shock rocker and two-time Eyegore Award recipient Alice Cooper, presented the Mexican filmmaker with his honor.
“Just his name conjures up fantastic images of demons and ghouls and all things that go bump in the night,” Cooper said. “He enlightens and entertains and just scares the hell out of us.”
“Thank you for this. I have dedicated my life to monsters,” del Toro said. “When I was a useless young man, I would read ‘Fangoria’ and listen to Alice Cooper. This is full circle for me. I am happy to be here because this is a celebration of the dark fantasy. I believe we have much to learn from monsters.”
