Pic, penned by Matt Greenhalgh (“Nowhere Boy,” “Control”), is a dramedy about the business and personal life of the late British club proprietor and porn publisher Paul Raymond.
Coogan will play the eponymous King of Soho, a nickname given to Raymond by the press due to his huge club and property empire in London’s Soho district, which, along with his porn business, amassed him a fortune in the 1950 and 60s.
Pic reunites Coogan and Winterbottom following their collaborations on “24 Hour Party People,” “A Cock and Bull Story” and “The Trip.”
Revolution Films’ Melissa Parmenter is producing (“Trishna,” “The Trip”).
Studiocanal co-finances the pic and will distribute it in Blighty and handle international sales.
Studiocanal’s Danny Perkins and Jenny Borgars will exec produce, alongside Katherine Butler of Film4, which developed and co-financed the pic.
