Frank Grillo set for bin Laden pic

Joins 'Warrior' co-star Edgerton in Bigelow and Boal's film

Frank Grillo is reteaming with his “Warrior” co-star Joel Edgerton, as the rising thesp is set to round out the cast of Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal’s untitled pic based on the hunt for Osama bin Laden.

Annapurna Pictures is producing and financing the film, which will hit U.S. theaters on Dec. 19 courtesy of Sony Pictures.

In addition to Grillo and Edgerton, the ensemble includes Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Edgar Ramirez, Mark Strong, Chris Pratt, Kyle Chandler, Jennifer Ehle, Nash Edgerton and Harold Perrineau Jr.

Bigelow and Boal are producing with Annapurna topper Megan Ellison. Greg Shapiro, Ted Schipper and Colin Wilson exec produce.

Universal Pictures Intl. has acquired select international distribution rights from Panorama Media, the pic’s international sales agent.

Grillo has parlayed his breakout perf in “Warrior” into supporting roles in WB’s “Gangster Squad” and Open Road’s police pic “End of Watch.” Thesp recently starred alongside Liam Neeson in “The Grey” and will next be seen in Stephen Frears’ gambling comedy “Lay the Favorite.” He also just wrapped the indies “Disconnect” and “Intersection.”

Grillo is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Loeb & Loeb.
