Francis Cantor, former Columbia exec, dies

Worked for studio in Italy, Paris

Francis Cantor, general manager of Columbia Pictures, Italy, from 1967-80, died from natural causes onSept. 19 in Sherman Oaks, Calif. He was 96.

Cantor, who spent his entire career with Columbia Pictures, was a member of the Italian Motion Picture Assn.

He started out in Italy with Columbia Pictures Intl. in 1952 before moving to Paris. In 1967 he was tapped g.m. of Columbia Intl.’s Italo subsid Ceiad. He returned to California in 1980.

Cantor is survived by his wife, German actress Hannelore Bollmann Cantor, and a son.
