Jon Favreau is going back in front of the camera again, as the multihyphenate has joined the cast of the Universal comedy “Identity Thief.”
Pic is set to star Jason Bateman, Melissa McCarthy and Amanda Peet, with Seth Gordon at the helm.
Story revolves around a man (Bateman) whose life is upended when his identity is stolen by a woman (McCarthy). Sources tell Variety that Favreau will play Bateman’s boss.
Scott Stuber will produce through his Bluegrass Films banner, alongside Bateman and Pam Abdy. Steve Conrad penned the first draft, with Craig Mazin doing the most recent rewrite.
The casting marks a mini-reunion of sorts for Bateman, Favreau and Stuber, who worked together on “Couples Retreat” — which also saw Favreau’s last big role.
Favreau is repped by CAA.
