Ewan McGregor moves into ‘Osage County’

Thesp joins Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep in film adaptation

Ewan McGregor has joined the cast of the Weinstein Co. drama “August: Osage County.”

McGregor joins thesps Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep, who star in the pic based on Tracy Letts’ Tony-winning play. McGregor will play the estranged husband of Roberts’ character, a college professor who left his wife for a student.

Pic follows the strong-willed women of the Weston family as a crisis brings them back to their Midwest home.

McGregor can be seen next in Juan Antonio Bayona’s “The Impossible,” which recently preemed at Toronto as well as New Line’s “Jack the Giant Killer,” which bows next year.

He was also most recently seen in Focus’ “Beginners” and CBS Films’ “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.” He is repped by UTA, United Agents and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
