Emily Hampshire to star in ‘Returned’

'Cosmopolis' thesp joins cast of futuristic zombie pic

Emily Hampshire (“Cosmopolis”) will star in the futuristic-zombie movie “The Returned,” directed by Manuel Carballo (“Exorcismus”).

“The Returned” is produced by Julio Fernandez (“The Machinist”), Gary Howsam, Bill Marks and George Ayoub.

Story, written by Hatem Khraiche Ruiz-Zorrilla, is centered on “the returned” — people who have survived the bite of a zombie by being given weekly injections of a serum, leading to a vigilante movements to destroy the survivors. Hampshire will play a doctor who works with the returned.

Hampshire just wrapped “All the Wrong Reasons” with Kevin Zegers and Cory Monteith. She stars in Sean Garrity’s “My Awkward Sexual Adventure,” which screens at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival.

Hampshire’s deal was negotiated by Dani De Lio at Creative Drive Artists.
