Tokyo — L.A.-based distrib and production outfit Eleven Arts has pacted with the Edlead Group, a company involved in content production, branding and sales, with bases in Nevada and Kawasaki, Japan.

The pair will make and distribute three to five pics a year with international appeal.

Edlead is headed by multihyphenate Taichi Ito, who started his career as a vfx artist and has worked on hundreds of TV commercials, music videos, TV dramas and pics. Past clients include Quentin Tarantino, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and Leos Carax, as well as many Japanese helmers.

Among Edlead’s projects is “Once Upon a Time in the Far East,” a projected series of live-action pics based on Japanese folktales.

Ito, under his helmer’s moniker Taichi, is directing the pic, starring Chizuru Ikewaki, Mitsuki Tanimura, Mika Mifune and Tae Kimura. Eleven Arts is handling sales outside Japan.
