Sara Canning, Catherine O'Hara added to Serendipity pic

Sara Canning (“Vampire Diaries”) and Catherine O’Hara will join Ryan Kwanten in Serendipity Point Films’ production “Sex and Sunsets.”

Jeremiah Chechik will direct from Megan Martin’s adaptation of the novel by Tim Sandlin. Serendipity topper Robert Lantos is producing along with Ari Lantos (“Barney’s Version”) with Mark Musselman exec producing.

Lensing will begin Aug. 20 in Banff and Los Angeles.

“Sex and Sunsets” centers on a failed writer-cum-dishwasher, played by Kwanten, made famous for his many flaws and shortcomings in a blog called “Why You Suck,” written by his ex-wife. He meets the girl of his dreams, played by Canning, on the day she is marrying the perfect man.

O’Hara has been set to play Canning’s eccentric, estranged mother.

Pic will be distributed by eOne in Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and Benelux.
