Stellan Skarsgard and Marianne Sagebrecht have joined the cast of Peter Chelsom’s drama comedy “Hector and the Search for Happiness” opposite Simon Pegg, Rosamund Pike and Christopher Plummer.

“Hector” is produced Judy Tossell of Egoli Tossell Film and Christine Haebler of Screen Siren Pictures. The Solution in handling foreign sales at the American Film Market.

Based on the novel of the same name by Francois Lelord, the script is written by Maria von Heland, Chelsom and Tinker Lindsay.

The film is a German/Canadian co-production with Jens Meurer and Trish Dolman executive producing. Shooting is slated to begin in January.

Wild Bunch Germany is co-producing and distributing in German-speaking Europe and Entertainment One has rights for Canada.

Pegg plays an eccentric yet irresistible London psychiatrist in crisis whose his patients are not getting any happier. Skarsgard has been cast as a jaded banker and Sagebrecht is a clairvoyant who has lost her ability to see into the future.
