Morgan Creek alum signs on as sales shingle preps for Toronto, AFM

Former Morgan Creek Prods. international distribution topper Daniel Diamond is joining QED as prexy of international.

Appointment comes amid QED’s expansion in advance of the Toronto Film Fest and the American Film Market, where Bill Block’s six-year-old indie financing, production and sales shingle will rep a slate of films including David Ayres’ “Ten,” John Turturro’s “Fading Gigolo” and Neill Blomkamp’s “Elysium.” Company also announced an “eight-figure” investment from Media Content Capital in Cannes this year. That investment will help QED fulfill the goal of financing or producing four to seven pics a year.

Diamond joined Morgan Creek in 2009. His previous posts included president of Fireworks Pictures, as well as exec producer on films including “The Believer,” “Tekken” and “Big Stan.”

At Morgan Creek, Diamond oversaw worldwide distribution and marketing for pics including Jim Sheridan’s “Dream House” and 2011 sci-fi thriller reboot “The Thing.”
