‘Country Strong’ helmer finds ‘Love’ at U

Shana Feste to direct Scott Stuber-produced pic

Country Strong” helmer Shana Feste is in talks to direct Universal romance “Endless Love.”

Scott Stuber will produce along with Pamela Abdy through Bluegrass Films, as well as Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage for Fake Empire. Tracy Falco will executive produce.

The original draft was penned by Josh Safran, based on the book by Scott Spencer — but it’s not known how faithful the adaptation will be, as Universal is keeping plot details under wraps.

After a string of action and comedy pics, “Endless Love” marks Stuber’s first attempt at a straight romance since he produced the Fox pic “Love and Other Drugs.” His comedy “Ted” is about to cross the $200 million marker at the domestic B.O. and the action-thriller “Safe House” brought in “197 million worldwide.

Schwartz and Savage have numerous projects in development including their first feature “Fun Size” which bows Oct. 26.

The Madhouse Entertainment, CAA and attorney Sean Marks repped Feste. Helmer is also currently working on the Sony Pictures Entertainment pic “Mermaids.”
