Costume designers to honor Eastwood

Beckinsale to receive Lacoste Spotlight Award

Clint Eastwood and his longtime costume designer Deborah Hopper will receive the Distinguished Collaborator Award at the 14th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards. Kate Beckinsale and veteran costume designers Marlene Stewart and Lou Eyrich also will receive special kudos at the Feb. 21 awards gala held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

Oscar winner Eastwood and Emmy winner Hopper have worked together on more than 16 films over the last two decades, most recently on the biopic “J. Edgar.” Hopper also served as costume designer on Eastwood’s best picture Oscar winner “Million Dollar Baby.”

Beckinsale will receive the Lacoste Spotlight Award, which honors an actor who has a special awareness of the importance of costume design.

Beckinsale’s next appears in the “Total Recall” remake, set for a summer release.

The DiSaronno career achievement in film award will go to Stewart, whose long career in costume design includes working on several Madonna musicvideos, as well as feature films including “Tropic Thunder,” “True Lies” and “JFK.” Her next project is “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.”

“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy will present the career achievement in television nod to two-time Emmy Award nominee Eyrich, who started her career touring with music artists such as the Manhattan Transfer, Prince and Bette Midler. She was later drawn into film and television, where she has spent over two decades designing projects such as “Popular” and “Nip/Tuck.” In 2010 and 2011, Eyrich received the Costume Designers Guild Award for contemporary TV series for her work on “Glee.”

The Costume Designers Guild will also acknowledge Western Costume’s centennial anniversary with a special service award, reflecting the company’s 100 years of professional contributions from the silent era to the present, as well as its continuous support of the guild.

Emmy winner and “Glee” star Jane Lynch will host the ceremony.
