Chris Weitz in deal to pen novels

Director will write YA trilogy for Little, Brown

Helmer Chris Weitz will pen a trilogy of young adult novels for Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, the publishing division announced on Monday.

Weitz’s debut YA title will be “The Young World,” the first of three in a post-apocalyptic series that will launch in spring 2014.

YA fare reps familiar territory for Weitz, who directed “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” He most recently helmed the Academy Award-nominated “A Better Life.”

Little, Brown Books is a division of New York-based publisher Hachette Book Group.

Deal for print, electronic and audio formats was sealed by fiction editorial director Alvina Ling with Suzanne Gluck of WME.
