Moira Buffini has been hired to write the script for Summit Entertainment’s romancer “The Night Circus,” a year after the mini-major acquired feature rights to Erin Morgenstern’s novel.

Buffini’s writing credits include “Jane Eyre,” “Tamara Drewe” and the upcoming “Byzantium.”

“The Night Circus” was published by Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group in October.

David Heyman and Jeff Clifford will produce the adaptation via the Heyday Films banner. Richard Pine will exec produce.

Story centers on two young illusionists who continue their fathers’ age-old rivalry amidst an enchanted circus, bound by a fated love and destined to affect the lives of all around them.

Erik Feig, president of production of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, and Summit exec Jeyun Choi will oversee the project.

Buffini is co-repped by CAA and United Agents in the U.K.
