While domestic average ticket prices during the fourth quarter 2011, at $7.83 per ticket, fell roughly 1.4% from the previous quarter, the overall average cost of ducats last year ($7.93) still clocked in higher than in 2010, when tix cost an average $7.89 each.
The National Assn. of Theater Owners released the quarterly stats on Thursday.

What’s more, Summit’s 2D blockbuster “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1” earned the most during fourth quarter 2011, with $274.8 million, while 2D holiday standouts, “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol” and “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” also helped contribute to the sesh’s lowered ticket price.
Though the average filmgoer paid more for tickets in 2011 than during any other year, the hike from 2010 to 2011 — an increase of less than 1% — was drastically less than 2010’s 5% jump over 2009.
