Angela Bassett is set to join Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart in Millennium Films’ actioner “Olympus Has Fallen.”
Antoine Fuqua will direct from a script by first-time scribes Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt.
Butler stars as a Secret Service agent who leaps into action when the White House is overtaken by North Korean terrorists on a mission to detonate nuclear weapons on American soil.
Eckhart will play the U.S. President, while Bassett will play the head of the Secret Service, who is left infuriated by the security breach.
Butler and his manager Alan Siegel are producing with Millennium prexy Mark Gill, while Avi Lerner will exec produce with Trevor Short. Production is skedded to start July 9.
Bassett, who recently starred opposite Samuel L. Jackson in appeared in the Martin Luther King Jr. play “The Mountaintop,” was last seen on the bigscreen in “This Means War” and “Green Lantern.”
