Anchor Bay unearths ‘Living Corpse’

Film unit acquires rights to toon after Comic-Con premiere

Anchor Bay Films has acquired distribution rights in English-speaking territories (U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand) for animated feature “The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse.”

Deal was announced Wednesday, four days after the pic premiered at Comic-Con.

“The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse,” based on the graphic novel by the same name from Dynamite Entertainment Comics, is produced by Shoreline Entertainment. Story, by Ken Haeser and Buz Hasson, centers on a guilt-ridden corpse who agrees to help a fallen angel keep the other undead in their graves and powers of evil from corrupting the world.

“Corpse” was directed by Justin Ritter, produced by Ritter and Ruskin and exec produced by Eduardo Castro, Eileen Craft, Darcy Feld and Dennis Sonnenschein. Pic took three years to animate and was rendered in RealD 3D.
