Amel rewriting ‘Methuselah’ for WB

The 'I Am Legend' scribe giving page-one polish to Watkins' script

Warner Bros. has tapped its “I Am Legend 2” scribe Arash Amel to pen a page-one rewrite of “Methuselah.”

“The Woman in Black” helmer James Watkins is attached to direct the action-adventure pic, which David Heyman (the “Harry Potter” franchise) will produce through his Heyday Films banner. Watkins wrote the initial draft of the script, which follows a 1,000-year-old man who has used his time on the planet to develop an unparalleled set of survival skills.

Project is said to be a favorite of WB’s production prexy Greg Silverman.

Amel will write “Methuselah” once he turns in “I Am Legend 2,” which Akiva Goldsman is producing with Will Smith and James Lassiter’s Overbrook Entertainment. Scribe is best known for writing the Black List script “Grace of Monaco,” which will star Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly. Olivier Dahan is directing that period pic, which Amel is producing with Pierre-Ange Le Pogam and Uday Chopra. Amel’s first produced script, “The Expatriate,” will debut this fall via Radius-TWC.

Amel is repped by CAA and attorney David Fox.
