In a competitive situation, Universal Pictures has acquired an untitled cop comedy spec script from “Cougartown” producer Blake McCormick, setting it up with the studio’s “American Reunion” helmers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg to produce and helm.
Kaplan/Perrone took out the script and Universal made their interest known over the weekend, closing a deal Tuesday night.
The pic follows two best friends who following a costume party dressed as cops are mistaken as real officers and forced to bring a dangerous criminal back to the station.
Joseph Amaral is attached as a co-producer.
McCormick recently sold a single camera comedy to CBS last week that Will Gluck is producing. He is repped by UTA, Kaplan/Perrone, and attorney Jared Levine. Hurwitz and Schlossberg are repped by CAA.

Spencer and Heidi Montag Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Justin “Bobby” Brescia, Brody Jenner and Mischa Barton were spotted partying at Les Deux on Wednesday night in Hollywood.
