South by Southwest has set 11 films for its Midnighters section, including “The Aggression Scale,” “Citadel,” “Girls Against Boys,” “Intruders,” “Iron Sky,” “John Dies at the End,” “Modus Anomali,” “Rec 3 Genesis,” “The Tall Man,” “V/H/S” and a secret screening.

SXSW also announced Wednesday 135 short films selected from 3,306 short film submissions that will screen as part of 12 overall shorts programs.

“John Dies” and “V/H/S” were screened at Sundance while the “Intruders” screening will be its U.S. premiere and the “Iron Sky” screening will be its North American premiere. The SXSW showings for the other six pics will be their world premeires.

“Though our regular program already includes a healthy sampling of genre fare, the Midnighters section highlights those that go a bit crazier, gorier, and all-around balls out-ier,” said SXSW Senior Programmer & Operations Manager Jarod Neece. “This year’s program includes both veteran names

with anticipated follow-ups and fresh discoveries with new voices, and charts otherworldly, insane territories that breathe new life into horror conventions.”

Last year’s Midnighters section included “Attack The Block,” directed and written by Joe Cornish in a story of a teen gang against an invasion of alien monsters; “Hobo With a Shotgun,” directed by Jason Eisner and starring Rutger Hauer; and haunted house tale “Insidious,” directed by James Wan.

Neece has been programming the Midnighters section for the past three years.

SXSW will open March 9 with the previously announced world premiere of Joss Whedon & Drew Goddard’s “The Cabin in the Woods.” SXSW announced last week that the premiere of “21 Jump Street” would be its Centerpiece film.

The final conference lineup and remaining late addition features will be announced Feb. 15.
