Swipe lights up ‘Fire’ biz

Sells controversial pic to BBC, Pretty Pictures, TV3

Frank Mannion’s Swipe Films has sold controversial clerical sex abuse pic “Beyond the Fire,” to the BBC for Blighty, Pretty Pictures for Gaul and Ireland’s TV3.

Helmer-scribe Maeve Murphy’s pic stars Cara Seymour (“An Education”) and Scot Williams as survivors of sexual abuse whose relationship is jeopardized due to their state of denial, as well as other dark secrets they have buried for years.

The BBC will broadcast “Beyond the Fire” this year, which Murphy describes as “a great opportunity to highlight the issue of religious sexual abuse, which is currently emerging in the U.K.”
