Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired U.S. rights to Michael McGowan’s romancer “Still,” starring James Cromwell and Genevieve Bujold.

Deal was announced Friday at the Toronto International Film Festival. Film premiered on Monday at TIFF.

Goldwyn is planning a 2013 release.

“Still” is a Mulmur Feed Co. production, written and directed by Michael McGowan and produced by McGowan, Jody Colero, Tamara Deverell and Avi Federgreen. Richard Hanet exec produces.

Rick Roberts, Julie Stewart, Campbell Scott and Jonathan Potts also star.

Cromwell and Bujold portray a couple in their twilight years with his character setting out to build a more suitable house for his ailing wife. He quickly gets blindsided by local building codes and bureaucratic officials as his wife becomes increasingly ill – and amidst a series of stop-work orders.

The deal was negotiated by Ian Puente, of Samuel Goldwyn Films and by Ben Weiss of Paradigm on behalf of the filmmakers.
