NFP has taken distribution rights in Germany and Austria to thriller “The Keeper of Lost Causes,” and the three subsequent pics in the series.

Sales company TrustNordisk also has sold the rights to Swiss distrib Frenetic Films.

The pic, which is based on the bestseller by Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen, is being penned by Nikolaj Arcel, who wrote the screenplay for Swedish-language original “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” and won the Silver Bear at this year’s Berlin Film Festival for the screenplay for “A Royal Affair.” The film will be helmed by Mikkel Norgaard, who directed political thriller skein “Borgen” and 2010’s “Clown — The Movie,” which is the all-time biggest Danish box-office hit in its home territory.

The film centers on two policemen who investigate a five-year-old case concerning a missing woman, which puts them on the path of a psychopathic killer.

Pic is produced by Louise Vesth for Zentropa Entertainments20 in co-operation with Danish pubcaster TV2 and German pubcaster ZDF.

Pic will start lensing in October.
