Pic premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday.
“Maisie,” helmed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel (“The Deep End”), is an adaptation of the Henry James tome set in contemporary New York. Nancy Doyne and Carroll Cartwright wrote the script, which focuses on a 6-year-old girl caught up in the bitter divorce of her rock ‘n’ roll icon mother and her art dealer father.
Fortissimo Films and WME began shopping the film at Cannes last year. Fortissimo is handling international rights while WME’s Graham Taylor and Mark Ankner have been repping the project domestically.
Producers are William Teitler, Charles Weinstock, Daniela Taplin Lundberg and Daniel Crown.
Millennium’s “Bernie” is the distrib’s top performer at the box office with a $9.2 million domestic gross earlier this year.
