Lily Rabe to play Mary Pickford in biopic

Production to begin in early 2013

Lily Rabe (“All Good Things”) has been cast as Hollywood legend Mary Pickford in an upcoming movie based on Pickford’s life and work. Biopic, which is produced by Julie Pacino and Jennifer DeLia’s Poverty Row Entertainment along with Said Zahraoui, is based on Eileen Whitfield’s biography “Pickford: The Woman Who Made Hollywood.”

Josh Fagin, producer on Brian Grazer’s upcoming “Yakuza,” is penning the script, and production will begin in early 2013.

The untitled film will center on events in silent-screen superstar Pickford’s life including her founding, with Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin and D.W. Griffith, of United Artists, which was designed to support filmmakers rather than studio heads, and her part in the creation of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

Pacino and DeLia are in Cannes and are looking to cast five key people in Pickford’s life including Chaplin, Fairbanks, Charlotte Hennessy (her mother and manager), journalist and author Frances Marion and director Griffith.

With the exception of a few docus, this will be the first feature film to portray Pickford’s life and work.
