Filmauro takes ‘Disconnect’ for Italy

Drama preeming at Venice, TIFF

Aurelio and Luigi De Laurentiis’ Italian distribution banner Filmauro has acquired Italian rights from Exclusive Media to Henry-Alex Rubin’s ensemble drama “Disconnect.”

Companies made the annoucement Friday after “Disconnect” had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Its North American premiere will take place Sunday at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival.

Cast includes Jason Bateman, Hope Davis, Frank Grillo, Paula Patton, Michael Nyqvist, Andrea Riseborough, Alexander Skarsgard and Max Thieriot. Story centers on people desperate for a human connection including a hard-working lawyer who can’t find the time to communicate with his family. an estranged couple using the internet as a means to escape from their lifeless marriage and a widowed ex-cop struggles to raise a mischievous son who cyber-bullies a classmate.

Producers are Mickey Liddell and Jennifer Monroe of LD Entertainment and William Horberg of Wonderful Films from an original screenplay by Andrew Stern.  LD Entertainment will release the film in the U.S. in the spring.

Exclusive Media’s Alex Walton negotiated the deal with Filmauro’s Giovanna Fulvi. Exclusive Media is handling international rights to the film.
