‘Eternal youth’ symbolized

Critics' Week poster unveiled

Celebrating its 51st anniversary, Cannes’ Critics’ Week has chosen Anamaria Vartolomei, the star of Eva Ionesco’s feature debut “Little Princess,” to symbolize the sidebar’s “eternal youth” on its official poster, which was created by Les Bons Faiseurs.

“Directorial debuts often shed light on new talent, and as such Critics Week has helped reveal many actors,” said the fest in a statement, citing Vartolomei, as well as Maggie Cheung, Gael Garcia Bernal, Matthieu Kassovitz, Marina Fois, Anaïs Demoustier or Lea Seydoux.

This year’s Critics’ Week will mark French film journo Charles Tesson’s first edition as artistic director. “Tesson will carry on the sidebar’s mandate: reveal and promote directors throughout the world by presenting their first films,” the statement said.
