LONDON — Entertainment One has acquired North American rights to Dennis Lee’s “Jesus Henry Christ,” which premiered at last year’s TriBeCa fest.

It’s a quirky comedy starring Toni Collette as the mother of a precocious 10-year-old boy, and Michael Sheen as a professor, who may be his biological father.

Based on Lee’s award-winning short of the same name, the film is exec produced by Julia Roberts and Deepak Nayar, and produced by Phil Rose, Lisa Gillan and Sukee Chew for Red Om Films.

It was financed by Reliance Entertainment and sold worldwide by IM Global. Pic was packaged by CAA, which negotiated the North American deal with eOne.

“Jesus Henry Christ” marks eOne’s fifth theatrical acquisition for the U.S. since the company’s expansion of its North American operations.

Dylan Wiley, VP, theatrical marketing and distribution, eOne Films U.S., said, “This key acquisition speaks to eOne’s continued momentum and clear strategic direction in the U.S.”

“Jesus Henry Christ” will be released in the U.S. and Canada in the spring.
