Dignity dishes on slate

'Fine' joins Jobs biopic on shingle's lineup

Maggie Monteith’s Dignity Film Finance has unveiled a slate of three pics, including Joshua Michael Stern’s “Closer to Fine,” that it is producing and financing.

“Closer to Fine,” helmed by Stern (“Swing Vote”) based on his screenplay, is a romantic comedy produced by Scott LaStaiti (“Love in the Time of Cholera”) about a small-town lifestyle guru who is kidnapped and blackmailed into planning a wedding for a down-on-their-luck Southern family.

Stern is in pre-production on the biopic of Steve Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher.

Dignity is also in development on “Bone in the Throat,” a tale of murder, mayhem and the mob based on the Anthony Bourdain’s tome of the same name.

Pic is produced by Lenny Beckerman (“uwantmetokillhim”) and Peter Heslop (“The King’s Speech”) and is directed by Graham Henman, who wrote the screenplay with Mark Townsend.

French-born Herve Renoh is helming “Spy Vs. Stu,” an buddy-style actioner. Allie Dvorin and Keith Mitchell wrote the pic’s original screenplay with revisions by Gren Wells.

South Africa-based production house Film Afrika, headed by David Wicht, will produce.

L.A.-based Dignity recently completed “Theater of Dreams,” a coming-of-age pic directed by David Scheinmann and starring Brian Cox (“Coriolanus”).

Dignity prexy Monteith is an entertainment finance, marketing and distribution veteran.
