Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures surprised the Comic-Con crowd on Saturday with a teaser of ”Godzilla.” The iconic bigscreen monster is finally making a move to theaters after spending years in development.

It was the first time that Legendary showed the test footage of the film, which set the Hall H attendees into a frenzy, generating a rousing reaction from the 6,000 fans that filled Hall H.

The footage was screened twice.

Edwards previously wrote and directed ”Monsters,” for which he won prizes for best director and best technical achievement at the British Independent Film Awards.

Legendary announced in March 2010 that it had landed the rights to ”Godzilla,” and Edwards was set to direct the creature feature in Jan. 2011.
