Becky: 3 Arts rep puts on his producer’s cap

Comedy Impact Report 2012: TV - Dave Becky

With a big Emmy win for his client Louis C.K. and Amy Poehler’s third best actress Emmy nomination in a row, 2012 underscored 3 Arts Entertainment manager Dave Becky’s eye for talent, further reinforced by breakthrough movie roles for clients Kevin Hart (“Think Like a Man”) and Rebel Wilson (“Pitch Perfect”). But the thing that sets Becky apart from other tenpercenters has been his role as a producer on “Louie,” “Broad City” and “Mash Up.”

Guiding some of entertainment’s most creative minds also means having a keen understanding of what has driven his clients’ success. He has long championed C.K.’s “unending hard work and dedication” and believes that Poehler’s ability to pick the perfect working teams has helped the “Parks and Recreation” star reach the top of her talents.

“As a manager, I choose clients, first and foremost, based on the strength of their original voice and whether that voice excites me,” Becky says. “I then find paths and platforms for that voice that will lead others to share my enthusiasm. The types of clients that I have had the most success with all seem to have a few things in common: They are hard-working, dedicated good people, inside and out.”

Becky expands his exec producing duties next year, with 2013 bringing “Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous” with Bo Burnham on MTV and “Real Husbands of Hollywood” starring Kevin Hart on BET.
