‘2 Guns’ fires sales

Mark Damon's Foresight Unlimited gets busy in Berlin

Mark Damon’s Foresight Unlimited has seen its busiest market ever in Berlin, clocking up more than $65 million in pre-sales thanks to projects like “2 Guns” and “Rule #1.”

The $84 million actioner “2 Guns,” toplining Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington and helmed by “Contraband” director Baltasar Kormakur, has proved to be one of the hottest titles at the market.

Pic, which has sold between $45 million-$50 million in pre-sales, locked a multi-territory deal with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions on Feb. 9 and a $10.6 million deal with eOne for U.K. and Canadian rights.

Reese Witherspoon starrer “Rule #1” has already sold to Benelux (DFW), Canada (eOne), Iceland (Myndform), Israel (United King), Portugal (Lusomundo), Scandinavia (Mis Label), Russia (Zao West), China (HGC), Eastern Europe (Revolutionary Releasing), India (Tanweer), Thailand (M Pictures) and Latin America (Imagem), while Italia Films took rights for Middle East, Turkey and Greece.

Speaking to Variety, Damon and Foresight prexy Tamara Stuparich De La Barra remarked that this year’s EFM, which marks the first time the outfit has taken on third-party projects for sales, has been “the single biggest market” of their careers.

Even before the market opened, distrib Swen snapped up Latin American rights for “2 Guns,” which Universal is distributing domestically.

And it doesn’t stop there: Foresight’s Jim Carrey starrer “Pierre Pierre” has sold to Germany (Warner Bros.), Russia (Zao West), China (HGC) and Latin America (Imagem & Gussi) in addition to a number of other territories.

“We’ve been seeing great deals come out of China and Germany, which is very positive,” said Damon.
