Twitter continues buzzing about the crucial role that the Jack Russell terrier Uggie (@Uggie_TheArtist) played in “The Artist,” so it’s no surprise that an awards show completely devoted to canine performers just popped up.
The first annual Golden Collar Awards, created by Dog News Daily, will take on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Century City. The evening will kick off with red carpet arrivals and a private cocktail reception benefiting L.A.-area dog rescue organizations and shelters.
“Artist” cast members Penelope Ann Miller and Uggie, who is working the awards circuit like no other performer this season, will announce the nominees on Jan. 18 at 8 a.m.
A distinguished panel of dog-loving film critics, entertainment execs and journalists — which includes Variety president Neil Stiles — will determine the winners.
