Prism nominations highlight ABC

Network leads with 14 mentions

ABC led the pack among networks with noms for the Entertainment Industries Council’s 16th annual Prism Awards.

The kudos recognize TV and film productions that realistically depicts substance abuse and mental health issues.

The nommed feature films are “Angels Crest,” “Another Earth,” “Arthur,” “The Beaver,” “Cook County,” “A Dangerous Method,” “Fly Away,” “Limitless,” “Take Shelter” and “Warrior.”

TV comedy contenders are “The Big C,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Drop Dead Diva,” “Entourage,” “Glee,” “Shameless,” “The Simpsons” and “United States of Tara.” Vying for the drama nod are “Blue Bloods,” “Castle,” “CSI,” “Harry’s Law,” “House,” “Parenthood,” “Rescue Me,” “Rookie Blue” and “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”

Among networks, ABC grabbed 14 bids, followed by Showtime (9), NBC (7), HBO and the CW, with six apiece. ABC and Warner Bros. topped studio counts with 10 each, followed by CBS, Sony and NBCUniversal.

Nonfiction nominees include the talkshows “Anderson,” “The Doctors,” “Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers,” “Dr. Phil” and “The Steve Wilkos Show.”

A nominating committee of 80 entertainment and health pros selected from over 400 submissions. Winners will be recognized April 19 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The showcase is set to air Sept. 16 on FX.
