Newly announced Oscar host Seth MacFarlane wasn’t exactly plucked from obscurity, but given that he is, as I’ve said in Variety, “arguably the least-known face to stand alone as the kudofest’s emcee in its televised history,” here’s an introduction to his on-camera persona for the uninitiated.
Let’s start with this video released today that offers a hint of what his Oscar sensibility — or at least Oscar-promotional sensibility — might be.
