CinemaCon has selected Disney distribution exec David Kornblum to receieve its Passepartout Award.

Kornblum, Disney’s VP of international theatrical sales and distribution for Asia Pacific and Russia, will receive the kudo at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on opening day at the International Day lunch April 15.

Kornblum has worked for Disney’s international distribution team for over 23 years and been involved in more than 500 titles, including four that have topped $1 billion worldwide — “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Toy Story 3” and Marvel’s “The Avengers.”

In his current role, Kornblum oversees distribution of all Disney, Marvel, Pixar and DreamWorks titles in Japan, Australia, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, New Zealand and India. The region is the fastest growing in the world and accounts for over 40% of the annual international box office revenues.

In his previous position, he was VP of international theatrical sales and distribution. During his tenure, the company reached the $1 billion annual box office threshold for the first time and has now crossed that mark for 18 years in a row — including more than $2 billion in 2010, 2011 and this year.
