Online ticketing site Fandango has tapped former Disney digital exec Paul Yanover as prexy.

In the newly created position, Yanover will head the company’s overall business strategy, focusing on expanding original content via mobile, online and TV platforms. He will report to Nick Lehman, prexy of digital for NBCUniversal Entertainment Networks and Integrated Media.

“Paul is the ideal leader to build on the incredible momentum of this business,” Lehman said. “His wealth of experience at the intersection of entertainment and technology will help Fandango continue to redefine the way we think about the movies.”

Yanover recently served as exec VP and managing director of Disney Online, a role in which he developed a network of family-targeted online sites for Disney.

In addition to the Yanover appointment, Fandango has been ramping up its original content efforts by hiring entertainment news correspondent Dave Karger last week. Karger will contribute various movie commentary to be aired across all NBCU channels.

NBCU parent Comcast bought Fandango in 2007.
