Bill Rosendahl Addresses L.A. City Council After Announcing Retirement

Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl is a fixture on Los Angeles’ Westside, not just for his years as an elected official but as the longtime host of a public affairs show that gained a high profile among industry figures and liberal politicos. He announced today that he would not run for another term and instead is endorsing his deputy, Mike Bonin, to take his seat when his term expires in 2013. Battling cancer, Rosendahl told the City Council today that his doctor gave him some optimistic news last night. KTLA’s report, below, captures Rosendahl’s spirit, including a wealth of friendships that include Warren Beatty, and a proclivity to greet positive news with the words “great, great, great, great.” And even as he battles cancer, he’s still outspoken, perhaps even more so. Bill has been a mentor to me, particularly during my days at the Los Angeles Press Club, and I wish him a quick recovery.
