Zweifach to head phone hacking committee

Exec to head News Corp.'s internal Management and Standards Committee

News Corp. has officially named general council Gerson Zweifach head of the internal Management and Standards Committee that’s investigating phone hacking allegations and working with authorities in the U.K.

Joel Klein, who was heading up the committee, will transition back to a full-time role as exec VP and CEO of News Corp.’s nascent education division.

The appointment consolidates the probe within News Corp.’s legal group, which Zweifach has led since joining the conglom last February as the company faced myriad legal issues.

He will report to News Corporation’s independent directors through Viet Dinh, an independent director and chairman of News Corporation’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.
