Jackoway has a hand in virtually all aspects of entertainment biz transactions in his role as head of one of showbiz’s most prosperous law firms. Notable pacts he helped shepherd in recent months include working on behalf of tech investment firm Silver Lake on its acquisition of a 31% stake in WME; extending J.J. Abrams’ lucrative production pact with Warner Bros. TV for three more years; and setting a new contract for David Letterman with CBS that takes him past the 30-year mark as a latenight host. And then there was the clause about tap-dancing lessons for Seth MacFarlane in his deal to host the Academy Awards. Jackoway says he’s intrigued by the interest of investors like Silver Lake in Hollywood’s tenpercenteries. “It’s a sign that sophisticated investors are looking for ways to be involved in the entertainment business as it’s changing,” he says.
