USA Network inks rights to ‘Space Between’

Melissa Leo starrer to air on 9/11 anniversary

USA Network has its Sept. 11, 2011 schedule all set.

On the 10th anni of the World Trade Center attacks, basic cabler will air the newly acquired “The Space Between,” the story of a flight attendant and the Pakistani-American 10-year-old boy who bond when they are forced to drive from Texas to New York following the devastation of the events of Sept. 11.

Pic was written and directed by Travis Fine and stars Melissa Leo, currently co-starring in “The Fighter.” The teenage boy is played by Anthony Keyvan.

“The Space Between” unspooled at several film festivals last year, including Ojai, Calif., and Gotham-based Tribeca, but was never picked up by a distributor for a theatrical release.

“I know that day will be a time for worldwide reflection and remembrance of the tragedy and heroism that is still so vividly etched in our memory,” said Fine.

Lynette Howell is exec producer. Andy Reimer produces with Fine and Kristine Fine.
